 THURSDAY– MARCH 1Â

AT 6:00 (in the cafeteria)

If you were not able to attend parents meeting here is an update!!!

1.  GIRLS Game Day T-shirts have been ordered. Girls if you have not ordered a shirt I have a few extra available. Please contact me if you would like one, first come – first served as far as the sizes. If you have not PAID for your shirt please bring your $15.00 to me also. (My contact information is below or bring to the picnic)

2. FAN WEAR Order forms need to be turned in at the Picnic also. There is an order form “attached” if you would like to order T-shirts and Hoodies. Be sure to take a look we got some Great Prices !!! Also, there is a backpack the girls may order with the option to put their name on it. What bags the girls do have are not in great shape. The fan wear is completely optional only if you would like to buy something.

3. BOOSTER DUES: $10 /FAMILY

In the past few years there has not been much of a booster club. Therefore, there is not much available in funds. It is my goal to try to build up our booster club without putting a burden on anyone financially or with your time. 100% participation means a little help in some way from everyone at some point in the season.  This will provide a great support system to your daughter, the team and the program. With everyones help, we can put funds back into the program to maintain our field, provide uniforms and equipment, and have the funds to provide meals and motel rooms for the team on away games. Â

Please help in any way you can:Â

We have committees that need volunteers (Senior Night /Away Game Snacks / End of the Season Banquet).

WE need volunteers to help in concession for our games and running the score board.

I have signed us up to do concession at the Stadium. Girls and Parents can do this !!!

**We will be planning and doing various fundraising projects that may require some help from you.

HAVING SAID ALL THIS, WE PLAN TO HAVE A “FUN” DINNER AND START THE SEASON OFF ON A GOOD FOOT !!!   SEE YOU ALL THURSDAY

Girls players and parents, please mark your calendar with the following events:

Mandatory Parent Meeting, Feb. 16 – We will start at 6 PM in the school library. Player eligibility, school and team policies, and booster club plans will all be shared. The meeting should last approximately 45 minutes.

Preseason Picnic, Mar. 1 – School cafeteria, 6-7 PM. Each player’s family will bring something to accompany the meat selection provided by the booster club. Booster club will finalize plan for the season, and girls will receive their various apparel (socks, t-shirts, etc…).

Also, please add the following link for the PHS Soccer Calendar to your browser favorites (or add it to your own Google Calendar):

http://soccerphs.com/parkview-soccer-calendar/  The game schedule is loaded, and you can find directions to away games by clicking on a game’s link and then clicking on “map”.

Here is the game schedule in another format. There still might be need to revise a game or two, but this schedule is as accurate as I can make it for now:

http://soccerphs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/2012-Girls-Soccer-Schedule-1-27-2012.pdf

Lastly, remember to get your physical turned in to me by Feb. 24. All athletes are supposed to turn it in on the new forms put out by MSHSAA last summer, so please be sure to get that to me before the first day of practice if you’ve not already turned one in to the school office. Here is a link to the new physical form:

The good news: the indoor schedule was realeased over the weekend. Here it is:

http://www.lakecountrysoccer.org/Assets/Girls+B+HS.PDF

The bad news: due to a miscommunication about the leagues we were trying to sign up for, only one of our teams was assigned a league to play in.

Long story, short… We have 20 girls, eight games, one team. Here’s what we’re doing about it:

Any girls who have not yet paid will be asked to give up their indoor roster spot.

Any girls who have opportunities to play on another team will be encouraged (but not required) to give up their roster spot.

We will divide up the eight games on our schedule between the remaining girls. Most girls will play approximately 6 games instead of 8.

Full or partial refunds will be distributed after we settle up with Lake Country.

Sorry for this disappointment. It was an honest mistake between us and the LCS office, who all did what they were supposed to; but because the schedules are now so full, they have no way to reassign our other team into any of the leagues scheduled to begin before the high school outdoor season gets underway.

FOR THE FIRST GAME THURSDAY… McKenzi has to sort out the roster based on the issues listed above, so she will be in touch tonight and Wednesday to do that and then announce who will play in the first game.

If you don’t have Mac’s number, you can reach me at 860-0759, and I will share her number with you.

Thanks… Coach Nurnberg

The schedule for the girls’ 2012 season is posted on the website. All of the dates should be 100 percent correct; starting times for home and away games need to be verified.

I will amend the away-game info as I receive it from the other schools.

I will update the exact times and locations for our home games once I receive the track schedules, which are due out before the end of January. As you may realize, we play as many home games at JFK Stadium as we can, but track events take priority and force some of games back over to our grass field. Due to a lack of lights at the grass field, we start grass-field games earlier in the evening.

Here is the link to the schedule:

Due to the large number of soccer players participating in off-season, we are forced to do our sessions separate from the other spring sports. The weight room can’t handle the size of our group. Of course, this is a good problem, but it does require us to change our schedule  from what we discussed at the start of this week.

Here is a generic itinerary of each day at off-season:

 3:10-3:55 PM – Conditioning/Speed/Agility/Technique

Meet outside the girls’ locker room, where we will decide whether to go inside or outside. Plan on outside activities when wind chills are at or above 40 degrees.

4:00-4:30 PM – Weight Training Long distance runs (up to two miles),

Tuesdays – Upper body

Thursdays – Lower body

All players who are not playing a winter sport at school are strongly encouraged to attend off-season training sessions.

All players and parents are welcome to attend our fishing trip to Lake Taneycomo Nov. 20.

We will meet in the Grant Street parking lot at 11 AM and leave by 11:15 AM. Participants are encouraged to carpool; there will not be a bus. We should be on the water from 12:30-3:30 PM and return home by 4:30 PM or so.

I am pleased to announce that Lilley’s Landing Resort in Branson has very generously offered us use of their dock and three or four pontoon boats for our outing! We are asked only to cover the cost of fuel for the boats. They operate a full-service fly and tackle shop, so you will be able to purchase your license and tackle there when we arrive.

Here is a checklist of reminders to do before the trip:

Obtain a valid Missouri state fishing license.

Purchase appropriate bait and tackle. Night crawlers and Power Bait are good choices for bait fishermen. Small treble hooks with springs around the shanks are good for Power Bait.

Bring money and food.

Dress appropriately. It likely will be chilly.

Tight lines,

Senior Kelsey Loderhose added an insurance goal less than 10 minutes later, receiving the ball from Courtney and then slotting the ball into the right corner of the goal with the outside of her foot.

While the team created a few more good chances to score, the defense took over, limiting Joplin’s offensive opportunities to a few tense cornerkicks in the second half.

The girls will play the winner of the Class 3 District 11 champion (either Glendale or Nixa) in the sectional game next Tuesday. The time and location of that match have not been determined yet.

The semi-final proved to be a real challenge. Our senior-laden squad had to cope with a feisty Central team after just having been graduated from high school the night before. More than a couple of the girls never really shook off their sluggish start to the game, which was understandable but enervating nevertheless for the Parkview head coach.

The girls persevered, however, and Kelsey Loderhose delivered a career performance, scoring five goals on the night in clinical fashion. Molly Robb added the sixth goal in the last couple minutes of the game, as well as two assists. Emma Chilton also recorded an assist in the game.

Former head coach and Parkview legend Ron Tate shared today that the girls’ team made the district final in 1998 and 1999, losing both games to Kickapoo.

Parkview will face Joplin for the Class 3 District 12 championship 6:30 PM Thursday at Harrison Stadium.
