Parkview and Kickapoo will host the 2011 PHS Boys’ Soccer JV Tournament bracket Oct. 21 & 22.
This year’s event has expanded to an eight-team bracket. Each team will play three games. A first-place trophy will be awarded to the team that wins all three of its games.
Participating teams include Parkview, Glendale, Nixa, Fair Grove, Catholic, Camdenton, Kickapoo and Marshfield.
Parkview will play Lee’s Summit West 3 p.m. Oct. 7 in the opening round of the 2011 Kickapoo Shootout.
Lee’s Summit West sits on the edge of the Missouri Class 3 Top 15 State Poll, receiving 13 votes in the most recent poll released Sept. 19. They had a record of 6-2.
In the second round of the tournament, Parkview will face either Kickapoo or Smith-Cotton. In the third round, the Vikings will play one of four teams: Kearney, Rock Bridge, Eureka, or Nixa.
Due to yesterday’s rainfall, our photographer and I elected to reschedule our team photos for Wednesday, Oct. 5, during practice. Players need to have their white uniforms at practice that day.
Players who want to purchase photos need to have their money in their possession that day.Â

For the first time in 10 years, mother nature won at the Parkview Viking Showdown boys’ varsity soccer tournament.
Despite a weather forecast that suggested only occasional showers throughout the day, thunderstorms errupted at 9:45 AM and remained over Springfield well into the night.
The 8:30 AM games both ended with about 10 minutes left in the second half, with West Plains winning, 1-0, against Republic; and Kearny achieving a 4-0 win versus Neosho.
Parkview, Catholic, Carthage and Farmington did not get to play a single minute Saturday.

Parkview won, 5-0, versus Republic. Catholic won, 10-0, versus West Plains. Carthage won, 4-0, versus Kearney. Farmington won, 5-0, versus Neosho.Here are the Saturday morning match-ups:

August 26 -Â Parkview 1, Carthage 4
TheVikings traveled to Carthage to take on last year’s sectional champion for their first game of the season. Carthage displayed the same kind of performance they did in the 2010 season, playing excellent possession and sustaining long, patient build-ups. The Parkview backline held together well, but Carthage’s better organized midfield eventually found seams into the Parkview penalty area.
Carthage took the lead;Â then Parkview’s Brian Otradovec collected the equalizer before half time with a left-footed blast from 30 yards. Carthage found the net three times in the second half. PHS Goalkeeper Evin Barber recorded 22 saves, putting in a career performance.
