The Vikings started 10 seniors on Tuesday night against Neosho, and beat a team that they had lost to previously this year. Parkview scored three goals in the first half, and gave up one in the second to finish the match at 3-1. Jared Moore picked up the first goal after Brian Otradovec found him just inside the eighteen. Moore received the pass and beat the keeper for a 1-0 lead. The second goal of the night came when Blake White crossed the ball and it hit off of a Neosho player and bounced into the far post back of the net, and the third one came on a PK from Moore after he was fouled in the penalty area.

The Junior Varsity finished their season with a 2-0 win against Neosho, scoring two goals in the final three minutes on their way to a win. After a 0-0 first half, Chris Lawson scorched a shot near post that the keeper knocked wide for a corner. Soon after, Shane Maloney pounced on an opportunity as the ball shot out of a the box and straight to him, and punched it into the back of the net past the keeper. The second goal came from a cross when Pedro Pitonez headed one just under the crossbar for 2-0 win.

The Class 3 District 11 tournament schedule has been set, and the Vikings will face a familiar opponent: the Nixa Eagles. Ozark High School is hosting the District 11 tournament on their turf field, and the Vikings will play on November 2nd, a Monday, at 7:00pm.

Parkview has beaten Nixa twice already this season, once during the regular season schedule 3-1 at PHS, and once in the KHS tournament 3-2. Both matches were hard-fought battles, with the Vikings needing a goal with four minutes left to break the tie the second time around.

Parkview beat Lebanon 4-0 on Tuesday night. The Vikings got their eighth win of the season, resting both starting center-mids in the process due to lingering issues that should not keep them out of Thursdays match. Tanner Bennett got the scoring started in the first half from a nice cross from Jared Moore, followed up nicely by another Moore to Bennett goal also in the first half. The Vikings dominated offensively, but played too many direct, overly optimistic balls in past the defense that the Lebanon keeper cleaned up nicely.

In the second half, Jared Moore received a nice pass from Brian Otradovec (playing center-mid for the majority of the match) and slotted it into the side netting for the third team goal of the night. The scoring was capped off by Moore again, this time off a cross from TJ Joy.

The JV match had a similar feel to the Varsity one, as the Vikings won 3-0. Pedro Pitonez scored off a pretty cross from TJ Joy, followed by two goals from Juan Garcia, who has played only 4 games all season due to a back injury. Garcia’s first was a header from a Chris Lawson cross, and his second was a unassisted finish thanks to tough defending as a forward.

The Vikings will face a tough Conference and District opponent in Glendale on Thursday at the PHS grass field. The Varsity squads will kick off at 4:00pm, and the JVs will follow around 5:45pm.

Parkview went into Camdenton on Tuesday night and most likely felt the effects of two separate issues: 1) They were playing their 5th game in 5 days, and 2) They were playing against the Camdenton Lakers, undefeated in the Ozark Conference. Parkview looked tired and outworked throughout the match. With some miscues in the back it’s actually surprising that the Lakers only scored 4 goals, save for the again solid play of Jon Malter in goal.

The Vikings now have a record of 7-12, but have the rest of the week off before playing Lebanon on Tuesday.

Parkview scored first but could not hold the lead, as the Vikings lost to Joplin 1-2. Blake White got an early goal 10 minutes into the match, but 15 later Max Duncan hit a set piece over the wall into the back of the net after being fouled just outside the box. Parkview senior keeper Jon Malter continues to play stellar in the net for the Vikings, but late in the match Duncan beat two defenders and created a 1 v. 1 to put away the game winner. Parkview hopes have starters Tanner Bennett and Jordan Houseman back in the next week.

The Junior Varsity played poor defense in the first half, more than once giving attackers time and space in the box. In the second half the JV squad looked like a different team, connecting passes and creating some nice opportunities. Phillip Solari played a solid stopper, and TJ Joy swept for the Vikings. Juan Garcia held down the middle of the field for Parkview, and Austin Hess put a beautiful shot off the crossbar late in the match.

The Vikings go to Camdenton on Tuesday, and will depart from school at 1:30pm.

The Parkview Vikings picked up two wins on Saturday, both in quite exciting fashion. The Vikings beat Nixa 3-2, and then Waynesville 4-4 (4-2 in Pks). Brian Otradovec scored five goals in two games on Saturday, (www.sgfsoccer.com has a rundown of the rest of the KHS Tournament games, as well as taking both videos on posted on this article.)

Parkview had lost to Waynesville 0-1 on Waynesville’s field, and got some great revenge in their third game of the KHS Tournament. Parkview was playing without starters Alex Blanco, Tanner Bennett, and Jordan Houseeman due to injuries. The Vikings, down 2-0 with a minute left in the half, scored a breakaway goal from Brian Otradovec thanks to a nice through ball by Jared Moore, which sent the match into halftime 1-2 Waynesville’s lead.

The Vikings focused on passes to feet and having open players show in better areas of the field, and the remedy worked. Parkview scored two straight goals early in the second half, both coming from Otradovec. Up 3-2 with about 12 minutes to go, Waynesville answered back to tie the match 3-3, before Otradovec scored his fourth goal of the match to give the Vikings the lead again. With about a minute left in the match the Vikings dropped back and defended too much, with no one really addressing the ball, and allowed Waynesville to score their fourth goal of the match to send the match into overtime at 4-4. The four goals against could be blamed on a handful of mistakes, but none by senior keeper Jonathan Malter, who had a much better game than the score would imply. Check out this save…

After two scoreless overtimes, Otradovec (sophomore), Blake White (junior), Dane Knapp (senior), and TJ Joy (freshmen) all hit there penalty kicks, while Parkview’s senior keeper Jon Malter saved Waynesville’s 2nd and 4th shots, so Jared Moore did not even half to shoot the #5 shot from the mark as the Vikings picked up their 7th win of the season.

The Vikings played Nixa in their first game on Saturday, the second of the tournament. Parkview had beaten the Eagles earlier in the season 3-1, and came out victorious in a much tighter match this time, 3-2.

Nixa scored first against Parkview, and after losing Jordan Houseman to an injury following his collision with the Eagle’s keeper, the Vikings brought in Pedro Pitonez at striker. Pitonez, a senior who has played mostly JV this year, scored two goals for the Vikings on pure hustle and effort, to give the Vikings a 2-1 halftime lead. In the second half, the Eagles answered to equalize the match at 2-2, before Brian Otradovec scored with four minutes left to give the Vikings the victory.
