August 26 -Â Parkview 1, Carthage 4
TheVikings traveled to Carthage to take on last year’s sectional champion for their first game of the season. Carthage displayed the same kind of performance they did in the 2010 season, playing excellent possession and sustaining long, patient build-ups. The Parkview backline held together well, but Carthage’s better organized midfield eventually found seams into the Parkview penalty area.
Carthage took the lead;Â then Parkview’s Brian Otradovec collected the equalizer before half time with a left-footed blast from 30 yards. Carthage found the net three times in the second half. PHS Goalkeeper Evin Barber recorded 22 saves, putting in a career performance.
