MSHAA Ends Parkview’s Soccer Season (KSPR Video)
Unless you win state, every high school season ends with a loss. The Viking’s season ended with a loss on Wednesday night, the only difference is that they didn’t find out until two days later.
Here’s what happened: Parkview was down 0-1 at half when the game was delayed by three consecutive rain delays. All four District coaches and the PHS Athletic Director unanimously decided that the weather was not going to clear for the night, and that it was unsafe to play with so much lightning in the area (the referees were not included in this decision).
After some of the teams, parents, etc. had left, one of the referees pointed out that MSHAA rules say that the game could be considered officially over because one team was up and the first half was played to completion. The Parkview Athletic Director and PHS Principal filed an appeal on Parkview’s behalf, but the decision was made that regardless of the coaches’ and AD’s unanimous decision, the game will be considered officially a loss for Parkview, and Nixa will advance due to the 1-0 MSHAA decision.
The Lady Vikings had a great season, and although it didn’t end like we would’ve liked, the Parkview principals, coaching staff, and parents are all proud of the Viking’s record breaking year. 15-4, congrats ladies!
There were many articles by media sources regarding our situation:

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? WHO IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE RULES????????????? PLEASE KNOW THAT I AM SPEAKING AS A PARENT FOR MYSELF, NO ONE ELSE, NOT OTHER PARENTS, NOT THE BOOSTER CLUB, JUST ME. THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS MISTAKE THAT COULD HAVE EVER BEEN MADE.
I’m speechless. I cannot imagine how this is effecting the players; particularly the seniors who will never get another chance.
The girls learned how to lose over the years and this year really learned how to win. Having it taken away from them is something completely different.
Good luck to all the talented (and there are many) Juniors for next year and I hope and pray your Senior season ends better.
So disappointing that such a great season had to end with a bunch of “What If’s”! I am so proud of the hard work that each and every player put into this season; but wish it could have turned out differently. It’s not easy getting a “Life’s Not Always Fair” lesson when you’re in High School. Great Work Girls…Keep Your Heads Up!
I HOPE THAT AT SOME POINT IN TIME I WILL BE ABLE TO LEAVE AN APPROPRIATE COMMENT ON THE WAY THIS SEASON ENDED. AT THIS TIME I AM TOO DISAPPOINTED,DISGUSTED AND ANGRY TO BE ABLE TO SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT IN PRINT. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED OUR GIRLS GOT CHEATED OUT OF SOMETHING THAT SOME OF THEM WILL NEVER HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE AGAIN. TO ALL THE GIRLS ON THIS TEAM…YOU ALL HAVE MADE ME PROUD TO BE PART OF PHS LADY VIKINGS SOCCER. YOU HAVE SHOWN EVERYONE THAT WE ARE A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND WHO WOULD HAVE GONE ON TO SECTIONALS AND TO THE VERY END. MY BAGS WERE ALREADY PACKED. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WILL GO ON TO PLAY NEXT YEAR…KEEP KICKING BUTT. I WILL ALWAYS BE THERE IN SPIRIT AND DON’T BE SHOCKED IF YOU HEAR ME YELLING IN THE STANDS. JUST ONE BIT OF ADVISE…KEEP A STINKING MSHAA RULE BOOK IN YOUR BAGS!!!!!!!!!
This really stinks!!! I guess my one question is, what could have happened (besides PV leading 1-0, which would still not answer my question) to make this outcome different???
Our girls have had an amazing season, so sad that this is how it has to end!!!! Good Job Ladies….your #1 in my book!
Great Job Girls, fun taking photos of you all, you were great! ANNA…Watch out for Mak next year and her RIGHT FOOT its a killer…
Sorry folks, but I have elected to delete a portion of the comments on this article, and will continue to do so if I deem fit. Luckily for me, this is not a democracy (this is actually not the official PHS Soccer website), and I volunteer my time to run this site in order to create a positive form of communication for the girls, and I want to keep it that way.
If you have questions about this article, or the outcome of the Nixa vs. Parkview game you can contact me personally on my cell phone at (417) 818-7998.
BE SURE TO CHECK OUT JOSEPH’S LINKS TO THE NEWS LEADER LOTS OF NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT MSHAA AND LOTS OF POSITIVE COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR PHS.
I am so proud of these girls they way they conducted themselves during the season and after the decision was made against them today. This has been a difficult day for all of us, but what a wonderful season we have had. We need to remember to focus on that. These girls accomplished things never done at Parkview before, they made history. It is sad that it all came down to the weather to decide our fate in districts and it sure would have been nice if MSHSAA would have shown some kind of compassion here, but nonetheless, we need to hold our heads high and remember that our girls did something special this year! Thanks for an awesome season, it has been so much fun to watch!
Joe – as always you are right and oh so wise!
To Everyone! We are planning our banquet to honor the team. Our option that works best is Tuesday June 1, the day before school is out. I know, late notice but thats the deal. We have the menu figured out , and most of the program details. I will need some help decorating, and if you would like to add something to the program please contact me.
I think it would be nice to invite Mr. Winstrom, Mr Shaeffer (sp?), and Steve Oleson(sp?) to the banquet as well, they are all strong supporters of our program.
Let me know your thoughts at tracyjp2003@yahoo.com .
Joe, do you have a group photo of the JV’s you can send me… if Not, I need to take one.. Thanks..Joe
