Thanks to a Jessica Maerz goal with a minute left in the match, the Parkview Lady Vikings beat the Camdenton Lakers on Tuesday night 2-1, making them 5-0 in the Ozark Conference and 11-2 overall.
The Vikings gave up a goal in the first five minutes, starting flat until the early Camdenton goal woke Parkview up. Shelby Stewart got the goal back before halftime by beating a defender with speed on Anna Wither’s through-ball, and knocking the ball by the keeper to make the halftime score 1-1.
Keeper Caylin Manary had to make a handful of tough saves and decisions throughout the match, including one from point blank in the first five minutes of the match, and coming off her line to calm potential chaos in the box once in the second half as well. Parkview’s offense came for the majority of the match from Shelby Stewart and Kelsey Loderhose, but Jessica Maerz got involved in the second half as well. Holly Messick has a very solid game as well, playing the majority of the match in place of Aubrey Durst who was out for the night.
With only a minute left in the match and the score still knotted up at one all, Holly Messick controlled a loose ball and found Jessica Maerz at midfield. Maerz shot from 30 yards out, and put the ball just over the keeper’s hands for the game winner.
Scoring Summary: Shelby Stewart 1g, Jessica Maerz 1g, Anna Withers 1a, Holly Messick 1a

JV
The Vikings defended well for the majority of the match, and went into halftime with a 0-0 tie. Parkview got their goal when Alex Shupert found Emily Courtney just inside the 18′ and Courtney drilled a shot in the lower 90′ for the 1-0 lead. Camdenton tied the match on a PK that keeper Maddie George dove at and got a hand on, but the shot was placed well and tied the game at 1-1.
Scoring Summary: Emily Courtney 1g, Alex Shupert 1a.
The Vikings’ next match will also be an Ozark Conference match, Thursday at Kickapoo. The JV match will be played first at 5:00pm, and the Varsity game will follow at about 6:45pm.

Yay for the game!
Boo for the fugly picture of my face all nasty!
It was my fault. Joe George had a nice photo of the parents celebrating, but I wanted a picture of either you or Caylin because she kept us in it on a few plays, and you had the game winning goal. I got picky, and you got punished. Haha.
(I’ll use the photo of the parent’s celebrating in the near future for something else)
Shakira thinks the picture is pretty!
Sick Shakira, do not encourage the neck flab!
It shows Grit and Determination!
I’m with Joe. Nobody can smile and pose the entire match if they’re playing hard too.
