The Vikings played their Ozark Conference foe the Glendale Falcons to finish the KHS Tournament, and won 2-1. The match does not count as an Ozark Conference game, but is still a good barometer for where Parkview is at this point in the season.
After being stopped by the Glendale keeper on her first breakaway opportunity, Shelby Stewart found the same thing happening on try number two. Part two, however, found the blocked shot coming right back to Stewart, who hammered the ball into the corner netting for the 1-0 lead.
Melanie Allen got the second goal of the game for the Vikings, also coming in the first half. Allen played the ball to the far post from the right wing, and the keeper was only able to get fingertips on it before the ball found the back of the net, making the score 2-0. The Falcons were able to get one of their own in the second half, when Lindsey Sprouse put a shot just under the crossbar right over the leaping Caylin Manary, but Manary and the defense did not allow an equalizer.
Parkview is now 8-2 on the season. The Vikings showed improvement in each of their three games in the KHS Shootout, despite going 1-2 overall. Both he midfield and defense showed drastic improvement this weekend, and the attack continues to efficiently finish it’s scoring opportunities.
Scoring Summary: Shelby Stewart 1g, Melanie Allen 1g

The Vikings’ next match is on Monday on the road against Branson, with the JV squads kicking off at 4:30, and the Varsity to follow at about 6:15pm. Parkview also gets a rematch against Glendale on Tuesday, a match that will be played on the PHS Grass Field, with the JV starting at 4:00pm.

Wow what a great job from all the ladies tonight…you guys were great.
Though I loved the win, I was more impressed with how the girls handled themselves on the field. Class act girls. My daughter has been blessed to play for four years with such a good group. Congrats Again!
Congrats…
JV first Tuesday? on the grass?
Yes, the Glendale game on Tuesday will be JV first, on the PHS Grass Field. In the Spring as long as we start by 4 we have enough time to get the Varsity match in no problem, thanks to daylight savings.
