In the Lady Vikings’ first match of the KHS Tournament, they lost their first match of the season to Rockbridge 0-3. Parkview’s record is now 7-1.

The Vikings went down 0-2 at half, and gave up a 3rd goal halfway through the second half. Parkview had it’s opportunities though, with Mckenzi Payton, Olivia Solari, and Molly Robb all getting great looks on goal. With a minute to go in the first half, Shelby Stewart crossed the ball directly in to Payton, who redirected the ball on goal from the six, but straight into the keeper. In the second half Stewart played the ball across the 18′ to Solari, who got a good look on goal. Molly Robb also had a nice effort in the second half, beating a defender with speed before having the ball poked away at the last second before being able to take advantage on a near 1 v. 1 opportunity.

Parkview may have lost their unbeaten record, but what they gained in this game is a high level of competition that helped push their team as a whole to the next level. The defense really picked up their game in the second half, with Amy Greene having an especially solid game in the back. The Vikings continue to play without forward Kelsey Loderhose, who is expected to return in the near future.

Parkview’s next two games will be on Saturday, the second half of the KHS Tournament. The Vikings will play Jackson at 9:45am, and Glendale at 4:00pm.
