The Lady Vikings played at Joplin on Tuesday, and won 4-0 . Parkview is now 3-0 in the Ozark Conference and 7-0 overall, their best start ever.

The Eagles battled in the first 5, but Anna Withers scored on a corner kick when the ball was cleared, but straight up the middle, 8 minutes in. Withers shot it from 25 out, and the keeper got her hands on the ball but could not keep it from crossing the line.

Jessica Maerz played Shelby Stewart a through ball that Stewart touched by a defender and finished with a couple minutes left in the first half. Maerz scored one of her own on an assist from Aubrey Durst for the 3-0 lead. Maerz assisted Stewart on the Vikings’ 4th and final goal, and Caylin Manary earned the shutout in front of the net.

The Viking’s speed up top continues to be complimented by a strong defense and goal keeping, which has helped earn 5 shutouts in 7 games, including shutout wins over Lebanon, Joplin and Nixa, among others. Parkview will not graduate a single back-line player next year, and the growth of freshmen Amy Greene and Aubrey Durst has helped them play well alongside juniors Holly Messick and Anna Withers.

The Vikings have been doing enough to win, but will have to step it up another notch if they want to be successful in the Kickapoo Tournament.
