The Parkview Vikings Varsity squad went to Waynesville Thursday night to play probably the toughest team on their schedule. The Vikings, playing without Shelby Stewart or Melissa Nieves, gave up a goal in the first 2 minutes of play, and were never able to recover. Senior forward Katie Prichard scored four goals for Waynesville to lead the way.

The Junior Varsity squad had a better outcome than the Varsity, tying Waynesville 1-1. Parkview played a solid first 20 minutes or so before giving up a goal, and then finished up the first half playing very defensively the rest of the first half. The score was 1-0 Waynesville at the break, but the Vikings took the offensive in the second half, bringing the ball right at Waynesville’s goal repeatedly early on. After a shot by Lana Aberle that was cleared away, Sarah Stutz took a one touch shot from about twenty yards deep and buried it in the corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams got chances in the second half, but neither team was able to finish another opportunity. Freshmen defender Carsen Miller had an outstanding game on the back line, even running down a breakaway and saving a goal.

The Vikings next game is on the road at Joplin on Tuesday.
